Here are a couple of girl scouts learning how to spin. The event was held at the Wisconsin Quilt Museum last Saturday. There will be 2 more workshops February 11th and March 10th. I've recolored HEARTS AND FLOWERS as soon as the mini pillows are done (waiting for the wool to arrive) pillows and patterns will be posted on my esty store. SNEAK PEEK

100 YEARS AND COUNTING...

I spent the weekend at the Wisconsin Quilt and Fiber Museum and had to share these photos! What fun, I punched all afternoon and signed up girls and their leaders for a punch needle pin class next week. I'm also filling in for one of the spinners on Saturday. That should be something, I've not done drop spindle for several years and I don't think it's like riding a bicycle! What ever, I'll just have another thin mint. Did I mention there was tea and girl scout cookies. Hope to have bunnies to post soon. Keep on punchin.

A POT OF TEA AND ...

A PLATE OF COOKIES. Yum, when there's snow on the ground, and the temp drops it's time to heat up the oven, and bake a batch of old fashioned peanut butter cookies. This is the easiest recipe. In a mixer beat 1 cup peanut butter and 1 cup sugar add 1 slightly beaten egg, and 1 tsp baking soda. That's it. Make 1 " balls and roll in sugar. Place 1 1/2" a[part on cookie sheet with silpat. Press with fork and bake at 375 for 12-14 minutes. Now the Vintage Valentine is off to the framer, I'm thinking Bunnies and Chicks. I'll get right on that as soon as I finish off one more cookie. Here's a peek at VINTAGE VALENTINE. It's almost finished, then off to the framer. I should have it posted on my etsy site in a couple of weeks. We've had our first real dusting of snow this week, and it seems there's a run on hot coco, and marshmallows! I love to sit by the fire and stitch or read. My book club is reading The House of Seven Gables. How fun to be transported back to the 1850's. Perhaps that was the inspiration for this years Valentine. Keep on punching.

Here we are setting up the exhibit at the Wisconsin Quilt Museum to honor the 100 year anniversery of Girl Scouts. It's quite a display. The exhibit starts tomorrw and runs through April 15th. The open house is January 22, 1012 from 12:00 to 4: p.m. I'll be there demonstrating punchneedle and signing up girlls and their leaders for punchneedle classes held through out the exhibit. LATE FALL IN DOR COUNTY

I love going up to Washington Island in early spring and late fall. It's a great place to get a lot of stitchin done (and I did.) COVERED BRIDGE STUDIO TOUR...

What a weekend, the town was buzzing with activites. The artists studios were open for 3 days. The public was invited in and allowed to not only meet, but buy directly from the artist. The Cultural Center hosted an old fashioned Shindig Saturday night with a silent auction. Many of the items were works of art donated by the Cedarburg Artist Guild artists. The Cedarburg Artists Guild's studio tour is this weekend starting Friday from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A silent auction and a shindig will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m at the Cedarburg Cultural Center. FALL WINE AND HARVEST FEST

It was a beautiful day yesterday for folks making the trip to Cedarburg for the Wine and Harvest Festival. The streets were filled was arts,crafts, beer, and food. Our courtyard had music, grape stomping, and lots and lots of wine by the glass! Several people took the 3 flight challenge and walked up to my studio where they were treated to a punchneedle demonstration! Today is the last day of the festivitives. What fun. I've been Horsing Around dying white wool with kool aid! It's not messy, it's easy, and non toxic! Now I can't wait to knit up some flapper hats. Kool aid sox are next on my list. NEW DESIGNS FOR NASHVILLE

It's been a little crazy at the studio wth lpunch and lunch classes, valentine's day, getting ready for the TNNA show in Nashville this weekend. Above are three of my new punchneedle patterns. Pink Heart Headband and Strawberrie Headband are easy to stitch up. A plain plastic headband form (included with the pattern) makes finising a breeze. Carrots are like potato chips "you can't have just one". So make a bunch of my What's Up Doc" carrot pins. It's the latest in the Woolies Collection! Keep on Stitchin.

Saturday's punchneedle class had a great view of the bed races on the creek. The races are part of The Winter Fest going on this weekend in Cedarburg. There are ice sculptures in front of the downtown businesses, a chili contest at the Community Center, and hot mulled wine at The Winery. Oh where is Norman Rockwell when you need him? Who could resist these two at your back door? Believe me when I tell you they are NEVER left outside alone (even though the yard is fenced) except when I come in to ready their food!

It's been a busy week at The Cooperage Design Studio. The News Graphics did a wonderful article that appeared on Thursday. Spool, a new needlecraft magazine featured one of my designs in their January issue. Punchneedle classes start next Saturday. I'm very pleased with the response, however a few spots are left, so if your interested please register soon.

Here's a peek at a little hooped up heart punchneedle project. I've started using Gentle Art's Simply Wool on small projects and love how it works up. More on that later.. Happy punching.

Here is a sample of the decorating my best friend Bonnie does every year for Christmas. After decorating the studio this year for all The Settlements festivivties I have a single candle in the front window! I spent a wonderful evening at Bonnie's home last week. And surprise, suprise her husband Suren did a practice run of the dinner he plans to cook for his family on Christmas. He is the best cook east of the mississippi! I got to be the official taster. A POCKET FULL OF SUGAR CANES

This is my latest design for Christmas. It's a snowgirl pocket. She can be sewn on a purse, or a pillow, or an item of clothing! I stuffed the pocket with candy canes, attached a red velvet ribbon and wore her around my neck for "Santa's Workshop" last Friday night at The Settlement. Yes Santa made a surprise visit and I found out he loves Candy Canes. The patttern will be available on my Website soon. I'm afraid this studio has put me a little behind in getting things posted!

AFTER THE FAIR IS OVER

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE...

It's been crazy buzy trying to get moved in and get my studio organized for the Holiday Season! The Settlement goes all out with special events each Friday from now until Christmas. My son Todd will be posted in my studio next weekend for "Christmas in the Country" while I'll be down the street at "The Holiday Art Fair" There will be a shuttle up and down Washington Street takng shoppers to all the festivities on Friday December 3rd and Saturday December 4th. If your in the area please stop by. There are many talented guys and gals in this area who will be selling their wares. I love this little town.

EARLY WINTER ON WASHINGTON ISLAND

The ferry is on it's early winter schedule; that's what the literature calls it. It was chilly, even a little snow on the roof tops, but as beautiful as ever. Todd and I made our semi annual trip north to Seviers to pick up my stuff. We stayed with our old friends Jim and Kathy at Findlay's Holiday Inn, enjoyed the Friday nite fish fry, and the yummy breakfast is their cozy dining room. Todd is wrapped up in there somewhere! Til we meet again in early spring (or late winter!)

The Cedarburg Artists Guild carved up a batch of pumpkins for the Pumpkin Walk taking place downtown today from 5pm to 9pm... It was most fun. Cat's, bats, and owls are flying around my studio. I'm working very hard to get it camera ready, so stay tuned!

MOVING DAY

Oh my be careful what you wish for.... Here is a glimspe of my my studio space. I had lots of help trudging up three flights of stairs with box after box, plus my loom, tredle sewing machine, spinning wheel, and the list goes on and on. Now the fun begins for me to sort it out and put it all together. Stay tuned.!

ARTS WEEKEND STUDIO TOUR

While I won't officially be moved in until November 1st, I put together a small display for Cedarburg's Artist Weekend Studio Tour. Lots of well wishes and interest in classes. FLYING THE COOP

I've decided to move my studio out of The Cooperage (aka my home ) and into one of the third floor loft spaces in the Settlement in downtown Cedarburg. Yes, I said the third floor! No elevator. Only the fit and fearless will be able to find me. That aside, it's a fabulous landmark building as you can see. More about the history later. I won't be officially moved in til the end of the month, but I will there this weekend surrounded by bags and boxes with "when pumpkins fly, holy cat, and hooters pins for the Art's Weekend Studio Tour. TNNA TRADE SHOW IN SAINT CHARLES, MO

It's always fun to travel down to the Saint Louis area for this show, see old friends, and meet new ones. My pins were a big hit. I sold out of "Hooters" my owl pin. TNNA TRADE SHOW

Meet "The Woolies" They are getting ready to make their debut at the fall TNNA trade show in St. Charles, Mo next week. The woolies are punched with persian wool that's included in the kit. They're fun and fast to make up. You can hang them up, stand them up, or mount them onto a pillow. Everyone on your Christmas list will want one. Last Friday was a perfect day for A LITTLE BIT OF COUNTRY'S furniture painting class. Here we are layering paint to create a barn worn look. I used mustard over paprika on this primmy cabinet. It's a four step process that gives the pieces a wonderful patina.

LILY OF THE VALLEY

Bunches of lily of the valley are here, there, and everywhere in my yard. There is a shady spot behind my shed that is crying out for a clump of these fragrant little flowers. After they're done blooming, I'll dig some up, and transplant them. In the meantime I've designed "Lily in the Valley", pictured here as a punch needle pattern. DOOR COUNTY

My son Todd, and I drove up to Door County and ferried over to Washington Island on Friday. It's one of my favorite spots in all the world. We dropped off several of my new designs, and a few old favorites at Sievers School of Fiber Arts. Ann, Carolyn, and Cindra run a fabulous school that attracks both teachers and students from all over the country to the tiny island. I took my first weaving and spinning classes there many summer moons ago! Now I make the pilgramage a least twice a year to bring up goodies for their gift shop. We stopped for an afternoon pick me up at The Fiddler's Green before checking in at Findlay's Holiday Inn. Jim Findlay and I have been friends since grade school! Their fish fry is the BEST. Hmmm fish, now that could be an interesting punchneedle design. . . Stay tuned.

PANSIES

I love pansies... especially how hardy they are in our cool spring and cooler fall weather. One of my sweetest, and definitely smartest sheep dogs was named Pansey. With a black ear, and a black patch covering one eye, she had a pansy face. We had her for 13 years before she passed away last summer. I miss her everyday. TULIP TIME

SPRING SCILLA

It sounds like a hollywood feature creature. But au contraire, scilla is the most delicate little blue flower that spreads itself across my backyard. No matter how much damage the dogs inflick, every spring it magicly appears. This year I've used it as an inspiriation for my lastest punch needle pattern. One of my bunnies under a big umbrella flanked by two giant scillas! I'll post a photo before I send it to the printer.

I cannot tell you how much I love this magazine. It has been such an inspiration to me over the years. That's why I was over the moon last year when Bonnie Smith, the editor and chief asked me to create punchneedle patterns to share with her readers. SPRING CLEAN UP

Oh, it's that time of year to get out, and into the yard. Harley is willing to help by carting off any old broken branches, while Hattie is happy to sit and wait for refreshments! SIGNS OF SPRING
